Jaguar MK2 3.8 Historic Racing Saloon

We are delighted with the recent acquisition of our 1960 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 historic racing saloon car. This car was prepared by the Jaguar factory for Peter Berry and was originally registered 1 BXV.
History of the Mk2 Jaguar owned by Peter Berry
Early in 1961 Claude Baily of Jaguar signed off three new competition cars for British teams the first was for Tommy Sopwith’s Equipe Endeavour and was finished in Indigo Blue with red interior, the second car was for John Coombs and was finished in Pearl Grey with blue interior, the third car was for Peter Berry of the newly formed Peter Berry Racing team and was finished in Sherwood Green with sage green interior. This car was the second of two Mk2 Jaguars owned by Peter Berry and was originally registered 2 BXV the first our car being 1 BXV.
Amongst some notable drivers retained by Peter Berry were Bruce Mclaren, then no 2 to jack Brabham in the Cooper F1 team, motorcycle champion John Surtees who was driving for the Yeoman Credit F1 team that season and former F3 ace Dennis Taylor.
Later and currently registered 687 DXA our car was loaned to Sopwith’s Equipe Endeaver for Jack Sears to drive in the 1962 RAC Blue Ribbon touring car race that supported the British Grand Prix at Aintree. Jack Sears brought this car home in first place, an account of the race has been written in his official biography Gentleman Jack.
